The Bryandale Learning Centre is situated in rooms on the school property.  A multi-disciplinary team of therapists operate from there in a private capacity, although there are certain links with the school.
The therapists are committed to close liaison with the teachers of pupils they are working with, discussing their progress through verbal or written reports.  The close proximity of the Learning Centre to the school means greater convenience for parents and also facilitates therapy during the child's school day.  The therapists involved include:

Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapists operating from the Bryandale Learning Centre have bachelors degrees in occupational therapy, which includes physical and psychiatric rehabilitation of children with developmental delays or learning disabilities.  Children with poor gross motor co-ordination, fine motor co-ordination or perceptual delays can benefit from occupational therapy.

Speech Therapist and Audiologist

Treatment is offered for the following:
  • delayed language development
  • cleft palate, voice defects, child aphasia and attention deficient disorders
  • articulation defects 
  • auditory perceptual difficulties
  • written language development
  • language impairment
  • reading comprehension and stuttering in young children
Treatment involves parent counseling with special reference to focused attention, discipline and stress.

Remedial

The therapy offered at the Bryandale Learning Centre includes:
  • remedial teaching at a junior and senior primary level
  • initial and ongoing assessments
  • the implementation and follow through of individual remedial programs
  • language enrichment i.e. the acquisition of English Language Skills
  • maths remediation based on the new approach
  • tuition designed to develop pupils mathematical concepts and their correct use of operation signs in the relevant number range
  • remediation of maths concepts already covered
The therapists are familiar with and experienced in the subject matter and syllabus followed by pupils at Bryandale and their associations with the school over the years facilitates an effective liaison with class teachers.
Where possible, material used will coincide with the learner's current classroom experiences.

Academic Support

The Bryandale Learning Centre offers courses which extend the above mentioned remedial program in offering pupils group lessons aimed at consolidating Mathematics and English work that is currently being covered in class.  Lessons will parallel those approaches used.
